Let's talk about lunch
I recently added a "lunch menu" button to our list of classroom links on the right-hand side of our blog. I will try to keep this updated each month when a new lunch menu arrives.
As you may have heard at Parent Orientation, 2nd grade will be eating lunch in the classroom this year. A teacher, parent volunteer, or a staff member will be in our classroom during this time. We will do our best to be sure they are eating the healthy and delicious meals from school and/or home. Please let me know if you're interested in being a volunteer to help us from 11:10-11:30.
Did you know that you can receive notifications when your meal account is low? When you visit mypaymentsplus.com and login with your username and password, choose the "manage account" link on the inset box located in the upper left-hand side of the screen. Through this link, you can select "manage notifications" and set up a reminder.
You are welcome to send your child with a healthy snack as well. We will have time most days for a snack in the afternoon.
On another note...we already have about 80% of our forms filled out. This is a great start! We need 100%, so please stop in or look in your child's backpack on the first day if you have not already completed: page 61 of the handbook, the emergency contact card, the residency questionnaire, and the free and reduced lunch form. Thank you.
I am so excited to begin the year. See you all on Tuesday, September 3rd!

Wonderful, wonderful, and more wonderful
What a great turn out for Parent Orientation. Thank you to all the families who were able to attend orientation or drop by to complete forms and donate supplies. The forms you complete help us keep track of your children when they are in our care.
For those of you who are still wondering about supplies...you are welcome to put your child's name on the folders, backpacks, shoes, lunch boxes, pencil boxes, scissors, composition notebooks, and spiral bound notebooks. The rest (such as glue, markers, pencils, etc.) will become community items. Please do not worry if you donated items without their name. I will make sure they have their supplies.
The next opportunity on our calendar is the final Summer Bridge Check-in. This one is at the school and is from 10-1 or 4-7 on Tuesday, August 27th. Enjoy your weekend.
We have supplies,
smiling faces,
and enthusiasm.
Thank you!

Soaking in the last two weeks of summer
I cannot quite capture the magic of summer sunsets on my camera, but it doesn't stop me from trying. :)
As we're soaking in the last few moments of summer, I wanted to share some important events that will be here before we know it.
Thur. Aug. 22: Parent Orientation for 1st & 2nd Grade, 6:00-7:00
I have been working on our classroom quite a bit. In fact, the sunset above inspired one of our bulletin boards. I can assure you that it looks much better than this...
